A-level English Language School and College Staff:

Staff from the English Language and Linguistics Department will cover aspects of the A-level curriculum in engaging ways, including discussing the latest published research in these areas. Staff will cover areas including child language acquisition, language and gender and accents and dialects so the day will be of use to teachers and students covering all the major A-level examination boards.

In the afternoon, staff attending the conference will have the opportunity to take part in a hands-on workshop with an internationally recognised linguist and can contribute to analysing some authentic language data.

The aim of this is to inspire and equip A-level instructors so they feel able to bring similar enquiry-based activities into their classrooms.

Year 12 A-level English Language students will have the opportunity to:

  • attend English Language revision workshops for students
  • tour UWE Bristol campus
  • network with current UWE Bristol English Language students
