Increased understanding of what being a higher education student is like, and how to make the most of the university experience.

How the activity will run

Workshops - Student Ambassadors  provide a ‘speed networking’ style workshop, talking to small groups of students (6 - 10) about university life, their course and the range of experiences learners will encounter when starting university. Workshops will require a suitable space to allow students to work in groups of 6 - 10 with a Student Ambassador leading each group.

Talk - Student Ambassadors provide an informal presentation about university life, their course and the range of experiences learners will encounter when starting university, with an opportunity for a student question-and-answer session.

Student Ambassador workshops and talks must be supervised by a DBS checked member of school or college staff.

UWE BoxED

UWE BoxED is a school focused outreach programme of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) related activities. The activities take place at the school and this year, the focus is on Key Stage 3 and 4 (Years 7 - 10). The aim is to support schools in delivering engaging STEM content and keep students excited about STEM subjects experience.

Target audience

Key stage 3 and 4 students.

Brief description of learner outcome(s)

National curriculum linked, hands on activities in your science, geography or maths classrooms to enhance student understanding and enjoyment. Pupils also get to meet and learn alongside UWE Bristol students and staff.

When the activity will run

Throughout the academic year. These sessions work well in normal class time, as well as part of enrichment or career days.

Where the activity will run

At your school or college.

How the activity will run

All sessions are led by UWE Bristol undergraduate students, interns and staff. There is a short introduction to UWE Bristol, followed by fast-paced sessions that incorporate National Curriculum objectives into enjoyable, interactive activities. Sessions include ‘street art maths’, forensics, building wind turbines, microbiology and more. See our UWE BoxED website for full listings.
