What are Offer Holder Events?
If we make you an offer for an undergraduate course at UWE Bristol, we’ll invite you to join us at an Offer Holder Event. We run this in spring each year for most of our courses. We’ll invite you to join us at an event on campus, and if you can’t attend in person, you’re welcome to join us at a virtual event instead.
What to expect at an Offer Holder Event
Watch as our staff and students give you a taste of what to expect at an Offer Holder Event and what you will get out of the experience.
Learn more about your course
At the event, you’ll be invited to attend course-related activities lasting up to 2.5 hours. These activities include sessions such as:
- welcome talks
- one-hour course tasters
- taster lectures
- tours of the facilities.
Course taster sessions are different to Open Day course talks, so if you’ve attended one of those already and you’re wondering whether you should attend a course taster, we encourage you to go along as it’s a great chance to learn about your course in more depth.
These sessions are an excellent way to experience what it’s really like to study your course. You’ll get a feel for university teaching, plus you’ll get the chance to meet your course tutors and current students, so you can ask them all your course-related questions.
Meet staff from our support services
You’ll also have the opportunity to meet staff from our student support services such as:
- Admissions
- Student Money Advice
- Accommodation
- Disability Services and more.
It’s your chance to ask them any questions you might have.
Getting the most from the event
There are many different sessions running at the Offer Holder Event, so it’s worth familiarising yourself with all that’s going on before the day to get the most from your experience.
The event is open until 15:00, so you’ll have plenty of time to fit all your activities in.
Make time for both course-related and support service sessions
Course-related sessions will take place either in the morning or afternoon, so be sure to allow some time to go along to the support service sessions that run all day.
Take a campus and accommodation tour
If you’re coming on to campus, make sure you take advantage of a tour with our Student Ambassadors to get a real feel for student life here.
Visit the Centres for Sport and Music and the Students’ Union
Why not pop along there and find out about what’s on offer? Some of our current students will be giving talks in the Students’ Union, which is the ideal way to find out about uni life from students already here.
Parents and supporters’ sessions
While you’re in taster sessions, we also run some parent and supporters’ sessions, which is a chance for them to ask any questions. As the taster sessions are for the Offer Holders only, we encourage all parents and supporters to come along to one of these sessions, specifically tailored to their needs on how to support your transition to university.
The sessions will focus on:
- the opportunities and challenges of university life
- how to prepare you for higher education.
There are a range of sessions being held during the day for you to choose from, both in the Schools and by the support services. You can book these sessions for parents and supporters when you register.
Can I attend a virtual event if I can’t make it to a campus event?
We encourage you to come along to an Offer Holder Event on campus if you can, as it’s the best way to get a feel for the place and see what it’s like to be a student here. If you can’t make it along though, we offer a virtual event for most courses and can meet you virtually instead.
