Entry requirements - New Zealand

The experienced UWE Bristol International team will be happy to give you advice on the suitability of your qualifications for your chosen programme of study.

Qualifications listed under each heading may satisfy UWE Bristol entry requirements to that level of study. This is not a guarantee of an offer of a place, which is at the University’s discretion.

All students must also have a recognised English language qualification.

Entry onto foundation programmes

Students who have only completed the sixth form certificate may be accepted for entry onto a foundation degree or an undergraduate degree with foundation year entry.

Entry onto undergraduate programmes

Students who finished school before 2004 should have a grade B bursary in the University Entrance Bursaries and Scholarships Exam.

Students would also be expected to have a Higher School Certificate (after year 13) or completed one year of university if they have only got a Sixth Form Certificate (after year 12).

National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 is accepted for direct entry onto undergraduate programmes and we would expect in the region of 65 to 70 Level 3 credits with E or M in specified subjects.

Entry onto postgraduate programmes

A score of B+/B or 6.0 GPA from a well-ranked institution is considered comparable to a UK 2:1, while a score of B-/C+ or 5.0 GPA is considered comparable to a UK 2:2. Requirements may vary dependant on scoring system used.

A Masters degree is generally acceptable for PhD study.
