Why do a business sandwich placement

Sandwich placement years are a first class opportunity for you to gain experience of working in a professional environment. Putting your learning into practice by developing both your practical and professional skills.

Facts about sandwich placements through Bristol Business School:

  • 87% of UWE Bristol Business and Management graduates that undertook a sandwich year gained professional or managerial roles on entering employment. Nationally, 67% of UK students who studied full time/sandwich degrees in Business and Administrative Studies courses gained professional or managerial roles on entering employment (HESA Statistical First Release 237 2014/15, table 7).
  • Most students undertake paid placements, earning around £14,000-£16,000 per year. £15,800 was the average earnings for Faculty of Business and Law students undertaking a sandwich placement in 2015-16.
  • 91% of Accounting, Economics and Finance students who undertook sandwich year placements graduated with First Class or Upper Second Class Honours, compared to 61% who opted not to do a sandwich placement.
