Students working in a UWE Bristol library

Update on IT provision at City Campus

Alternative IT provision across City Campus.

Bower Ashton Library

After the recent theft of MacBooks, a set of 17 laptops have been sourced and will be manually loaned from the Library during the hours of 08:30-18:00 Monday to Friday. They will be loaned (with a bag and a power supple for recharging) for a maximum of 24 hours.

These laptops will have the equivalent of Adobe Design Standard installed i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and are available from Monday 1 February.

The 23 fixed PCs also remain in the Library (which include the standard Microsoft Office and Creative Suite software). You can pre-book the PCs situated in the Library alcoves using the online booking system. PCs can be booked up to 1 week in advance.

Additional IT provision

Staff and students are reminded that:

  • EPI Centre rooms are available when teaching is not taking place (and space is being made by moving some bookings into the Arnolfini). The Yellow Room 0F11 will be kept as open access as possible. EPI timetables are published online to allow students to check for lab availability both at Bower and Arnolfini.
  • 1B9 (adjacent to the Library) at Bower Ashton is open access when teaching is not taking place: Timetabling of 1B9 (the current CETTS week is week 28 starting at 1 February).
  • The Arnolfini has two EPI Centre labs on the 4th floor, both with 16 Macs. Both are open access when teaching is not booked (one room is largely open access at all times): Arnolfini EPI Centre timetables
  • For those who require the more intensive computer software such as Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Web software, there is open access time in the EPI Centre computer facilities from 16:30 in all of the EPI labs. Please check the EPI timetables.
