Students studying

Key dates

Students that are due to take referrals should be aware of the following key dates.

Resit exam period

The resit exam period will run from 8 - 19 August 2011. Resit exam timetables will be available from the end of July.

Submission of referred work

The deadline to submit referred coursework is 8 August 2011 at 14:00.

Resit charges

There is a £50 resit charge for each module that a student is referred in. You will see the details of how much you will have to pay to resit your assessment with details of how to pay on your myUWE account. Any charges will be shown on the 'Payments Channel' on the 'Home' tab.

Frequently asked questions

Where is information on the resit charge documented?

Details of the resit charge are available on UWE’s Tuition Fees policy.

How much do I pay?

The resit charge is £50 per module, regardless of whether you are retaking more than one assessment on that module. You can check how much you must pay by logging on to myUWE and selecting the 'Payments channel' on the 'Home' tab.

I had extenuating circumstances, do I still have to pay?

If your extenuating circumstances were accepted by an exam board and relate to your referral module, you will not be charged for that module.

Do I still have to pay the charge even if I don’t take the resit?

No, if you don’t attend a resit exam or submit your referred coursework, the charge will be cancelled.

Can I do the resit even if I can’t pay the charge right now?

Yes, but you must pay as soon as possible in order to be able to register next year or to graduate (if this is your final year).

What happens if I don’t pay?

If you don’t pay, you will be in debt to the University, and as such, won’t be able to register for the next academic year.

If you are a final year student, you won’t be permitted to graduate.

I am unable to pay immediately due to financial hardship. What do I need to do?

It is important that the charge is paid as soon as possible.  If you are unable to pay before the start of the next academic year due to unexpected financial hardship, you can e-mail the Credit Control team, outlining your circumstances and request an exceptional payment plan. Each case is considered on its merits.
