What can volunteering do for me?
Volunteering is a great way to try something new, to do something different, to give your CV a boost, to learn new skills, or even just for fun!
“Volunteering is a great chance to meet new people and I have built valuable friendships with colleagues.” UWE Law Student.
Volunteering makes you more employable
Having volunteering experience on your CV or job applications will make you stand out in the graduate job market and is a great way to get relevant work experience.
The range of experience that you can gain is wider than you think, ever thought about volunteering in marketing, as a web designer, as an art tutor or in business and finance? It’s also a chance to develop key transferable skills which employers are looking for, like teamwork, leadership, communication and time-management.
“Put aside preconceptions: volunteering is work experience with the added possibility that the act of choosing to be a volunteer can show even greater initiative and commitment.” Mike Killingley, Senior Manager Executive Education, HSBC.
