Postgraduate case studies
Chris - MA Human Resource Management
The work I do within my job has been greatly expanded which
will enable me to develop the scope of work I can be involved with
in the future.
Amanda - BSc Biomedical Science
Amanda is currently training to be a doctor at Bristol
Medical School after completing a sandwich degree in Biomedical
Science at UWE. Amanda is an inspiring example of how determination
and hard work can produce results. She has gained entry to the
highly competitive field of medicine as a mature student.
Chad - MSc Management
Each placement is effectively like a different job and I will
have undertaken six different placements by the end of the
traineeship.
Clare - MSC/PG DIP Health Psychology
The assistant psychologist jobs don't come up often and are
very competitive so you have to be patient and be prepared to get a
foot in the door.
Ian - PhD in Sociology
If you are interested in working for charitable organisations
then doing voluntary work is a good way of getting into this type
of organisation.
Lauren - MA Marketing
Do something that makes you stand out from the crowd.
Joe - MSc International Managment
It was my first experience of working for a professional
british company. My role in 7 Layers Solutions was not only being a
language translator, but also involed market research, data
collection and business with a culture advisor, which were exactly
part of my current study.
Sarah - MSc Transport Planning
Whilst I was at UWE companies would frequently liaise with
the Centre for Transport and Society providing job opportunities
for graduates. It was through one of these emails that I heard of
opportunities with Capita Symonds, based at their office in
Cwmbran.
Stuart - MA Politics
I get to build upon my knowledge of the discipline of
politics in more detail. I am also learning numerous skills that
will directly help me in employment.
Sian - Post Graduate Diploma in Career Guidance
I was a little surprised at the range of careers this course
opened doors too which I had not necessarily considered. The course
has certainly equipped me for the future.
Steve - PhD Film Studies
My presentation and public speaking skills have improved
enormously, but you also develop more general skills like time
management, multi-tasking, writing and speaking for different
audiences.
