A selection of frequently asked questions for students considering accommodation at the University.
Can I apply for University accommodation if UWE Bristol is not my first choice?
If you accept us as your insurance choice, you will not be able to apply for accommodation until after the exam results have been released, and you have confirmed that you will be coming to UWE Bristol.
The number of spaces available in our accommodation at this time will be limited but we will do our best to help applicants find suitable accommodation.
Can I live with a friend?
It is not our policy to allocate friends to the same flat/house. However, if you both apply at the same time for a Wallscourt Park twin room we will consider this when we allocate rooms. This is not possible in any other UWE Bristol accommodation.
Can I have visitors?
You may have an adult visitor to stay as long as this does not exceed two nights in any seven. You are responsible for the actions and behaviour of your visitors at all times. Please refer to the Terms and conditions – Visitors 2.4.1.
Will there be empty University spaces when it comes to clearing?
There are usually a limited number of spaces available during the clearing process.
What will happen to my accommodation if I defer entry to UWE Bristol?
If you decide to defer, you will need to advise Admissions or International Recruitment, and Accommodation Services of your decision. We will re-allocate your accommodation to another student. You will need to reapply the following year for accommodation.
Admissions will send you a new accommodation email next year. If you have not heard from them by the end of March, please ring Admissions on +44 (0)117 32 83333/83600.
What if I am on holiday, can’t accept my offer of accommodation or make my payment within ten days of the offer?
It is essential that you keep in touch with us and check your email regularly. Please note that only you can accept an offer of accommodation. You can do this via some mobile devices or at any internet cafe. We are not able to email the offer to an email address other than the one you provided when you registered with UCAS. We will need confirmation from you within ten days of the offer. At present, you will be unable to view your offer via an iPad.
If you contact us prior to a holiday, then we may be able to delay sending the offer out until you get back. Generally, if the Licence is not accepted within the ten days, the accommodation offered to you will be allocated to someone else.
Please remember, we only make you one offer of accommodation and this is sent to the email address registered with UCAS.
Is there parking available?
If you have been allocated University accommodation, you are prohibited from parking on campus at anytime and you are not eligible to apply for a parking permit.
You are prohibited from parking your car on campus or in the surrounding area. Exceptions may be made in cases where the student has a disability as defined under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. Such exceptions are completely at the University's discretion.
The Hollies and Glenside accommodation has very limited parking available on application of a car parking permit. Please note, you are not eligible to park on Frenchay Campus.
City centre accommodation does not have car parking. The only car parking available will be in the private car parks, such as NCP, which will be very expensive.
Can I view my property before I move in?
We do not offer viewings for any of our properties. However, you can visit selected accommodation at UWE Bristol Open Days prior to application date.
Can I use my school email address to view Accommodation correspondence?
You must ensure that you provide UCAS with an email address you will have access to after you have left school. We send all correspondence through the email address provided, if you used an email address that you are unable to access, you will miss important information regarding your application.
Can you tell me who I will be living with?
The majority of our accommodation is shared with other students from UWE Bristol. We are unable to provide you with the details of the students with whom you will be sharing with due to the Data Protection Act 1998 which prevents us from releasing such information. Many students use social media to make contact with other UWE Bristol students but we strongly advise that you do not post your name and address in any such public forums. However, when you attend your Welcome Meeting you will be with other students who share your accommodation and this is a great opportunity to make new friends.
If I defer my course after I have accepted a place at UWE Bristol, is my £250 deposit refundable?
You must email email@example.com no later than the end of August to advise us that you no longer require the room. We will then refund your deposit.
