Release of marks and grades and confirmation of credit

The Academic Board approved a proposal in December 2012 to change the way in which unconfirmed and final marks are displayed to students in myUWE. This process is explained below.

Outline of changes

The Academic Board agreed that students should see all work item marks for all of their modules on myUWE as soon as they are available, irrespective of whether they have been considered by an examining board. The changes made also provide for the publication and maintenance of marks in one place.

As a consequence all coursework and exam marks will be published in myUWE (a secure environment for the release of marks).

Important note about unconfirmed marks: please do not contact your module leader about unconfirmed marks for exams that have been individually released to you in myUWE. These marks are still subject to moderation by the examining board and may go up or down. The final agreed mark will be confirmed on the official publication date.

Once the examining board process is complete all marks are confirmed and identified as final.

It is envisaged that the changes will enhance the student experience by facilitating an individual’s access to all of their unconfirmed marks as soon as they are available.

The changes made also satisfy the following regulatory requirements:

H1.2 Unconfirmed marks or grades will be given as soon as practicable after the marking process is complete. Unconfirmed marks are subject to moderation by the Field Board/single tier examining board and, as such, may go up or down before they are confirmed.
