The School of Education's MA Applied Social Research and PhD research training programmes meet the requirements of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and were given recognition by them at the beginning of 2004. Each spring we select candidates to support in the ESRC studentship competition
The School supervises a wide range of education and educational-related doctoral studies from those focused on primary education, through to studies of post-compulsory, further and higher education as well as across the professions.
We supervise studies focused on teaching and learning, on professional identities, on relationships within educational establishments, on workplace or professional learning, and on the broader social, economic, political and policy contexts of education and learning.
