Mike Day

Mike DayMike is a science writer for Science for Environment Policy, a news and information service, produced by the Science Communication Unit, UWE Bristol on behalf of the European Commission’s Environment Directorate-General. 

Prior to joining UWE Bristol Mike worked as a researcher at the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) in Bogor, Indonesia and the International Institute for the Environment and Development (IIED) in London. Mike has contributed to research on a number of topics related to the environment and international development such as conservation and livelihoods; the UN-REDD scheme (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation) and evidence synthesis to inform conservation policy. Mike’s academic background is in ecology and conservation biology and he also has extensive ecological survey experience having conducted a range of specialist habitat and species surveys in the UK and abroad.

Research, practice and projects

Science for Environment Policy communicates environmental research findings in easy-to-understand formats to policymakers across Europe, strengthening the connection between scientific evidence and policy.
