She appeared on BBC Breakfast News on the first day of the 2005
General Election Campaign to discuss key marginal seats and was a
daily contributor to the Bristol Evening Post local election
coverage in 2007. The UK operates a range of electoral systems, and
the introduction of new institutions such as the Welsh Assembly and
Scottish Parliament offers a plethora of opportunities for Lisa to
research where women stand, and succeed in, getting elected.
"I am fascinated by the electoral landscape in the UK and the changing nature of political party profiles in relation to women representatives. The 1997 General Election marked an expected sea change in the progression of women into political office. However, it quickly became apparent that this progress is reliant on several factors - perhaps most important is internal party cultures. Different political parties utilise electoral system opportunities in different ways, and various attempts to 'engineer' more equitable representation have created internal party divisions".
