Students and staff at schools and colleges
UWE Library Services welcomes visits from schools and Further Education colleges, and our staff are happy to help you organise a visit.
Available services
The following can be made available to you:
- Access to UWE libraries for school and college students and staff, to support AS/A2, Extended Project Qualification, International Baccalaureate and other qualifications.
- Reference use of print resources.
- Photocopying facilities (please read the copyright legislation displayed in the library).
- Training in the use of library resources and its resources (this must be arranged in advanced).
- Use of the library search.
- Limited use of databases (this must be discussed with a librarian in advance).
The library website offers information about subject specific resources, some of which are available free of charge.
Your visit
- All arrangements must be made in advance, and we would need two weeks notice to organise a visit.
- All groups must be accompanied by a teacher or school librarian.
- Applications will not normally be accepted from individual school students, although students aged 16 and over are welcome following a visit with their school.
- Please fill in the online form if you would like to organise a visit.
Other libraries
Using public libraries can be very rewarding. Membership is free, and many offer free access to databases.
LibrariesWest is a consortium of 5 local authority library services who work together to offer a co-ordinated service to users.
Wiltshire Public Library Service may also be useful.

Study skills
The MySkills site offers study skills support for UWE students. This can also be accessed free of charge.
The site includes a section on being a UWE student, which can help prospective students decide whether university could be a future option.
