General current awareness services
Zetoc, from the British Library, will notify you by e-mail when new journal articles or conference papers are published in your subject area.
Zetoc provides access to the tables of contents of 20,000 journals and 16,000 conference proceedings published each year. Also included are some open access journals which are housed on UK PubMed Central and Biomed Central. Zetoc is updated daily.
Please note that you have to be a member of UWE or another University to access Zetoc.
Journal TOCs is the largest, free table of contents service, with over 16,000 journal titles, including over 2000 open access titles. Save searches, and opt to have updates delivered via RSS feeds or by email. JournalTOCs is available to anyone
TicTOCS is a free table of contents service, covering over 14000 journal TOCs collected from 740 publishers. The service supports exporting of TOCs via RSS feeds to popular feed readers, exporting of citations to Refworks, and provides access to full text of some articles. TicTOCs is available to anyone.
Database alerts
Many other databases listed in the databases: by subject / A-Z lists allow you to set up e-mail alerts to notify you when new articles (or other materials) are added.
You can usually configure alerts to select new articles by subject, author and keyword matches.
Popular databases that feature an alerting service include ISI Web of Knowledge, Lawtel, LexisLibrary, Linex, Medline, Westlaw, PsychINFO.
