Request alternative formats for students

Information for staff, about the Alternative Formats Service.

About the Alternative Formats Service

We provide books and journals in alternative formats for students with a visual impairment, dyslexia or other condition that makes it difficult for them to access printed texts.

We can reformat anything (including whole books) on the core reading list for their course.

You will be teaching students who are using the service, so we will need your help to get their readings ready in time.

Please use the online reading lists and clearly mark essential items on that list as Core reading, as per the Best Practice Guidance. If you're unsure how to use reading lists, Using provides a step by step guide.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

We only have the staff resources to reformat core reading material. However, we can run training sessions to show you how to reformat your own documents.

To request a training session, please contact us.

Referring students

If you know of a student you think may benefit from the service, please refer them to us, or direct them to the alternative formats web page.
