IT
You will need to use a range of IT skills while you are a student with us so if you are a bit rusty it would be a good idea to put some practice in before you start your course to ensure you are familiar with using e-mail, the internet and software such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. UWE has developed a range of resources to help students which you will be directed to at the relevant time but for now you might find it useful to have a look at a recent version of our Student Computing at UWE guide.
Reminder
In previous correspondence you will have already been informed about our requirements regarding:
• Academic certificates
• Criminal Records Bureau checks
• Occupational Health clearance
If any of these requirements are still outstanding you really must send the relevant paperwork to us, as instructed, as soon as possible, preferably ahead of Welcome Week/end and induction.
How do I get my uniform?
Your uniform will be provided free of charge, details of which will be given to you once you commence the programme. Male students are required to wear dark trousers with a short white top whilst female students can choose between a white dress or trousers and a white top. You will also need to consider your footwear. When you are in the Clinical Departments you will need a comfortable pair of shoes (preferably black or brown) as you will be on your feet for long periods! Your shoes need to afford support and protection to your feet (sandals and trainers are not permitted by hospital trusts). As students visit local clinical departments during the first academic block, please ensure that you bring suitable footwear with you in September.
Radiography equipment
You will be required to obtain some items of radiography equipment during the first academic block. A full list is available to download.
Booklist
A list of year 1 texts is attached to the right however it is recommended that you view the resources in the Glenside library before deciding which books to purchase to support your studies. There will also be opportunities at the start of the programme for you to view sample copies and discuss your individual needs with module leaders.
