Tech Partnership (e-skills) UK
Our BSc(Hons) Information Technology Management for Business (ITMB) degree has been developed in conjunction with e-skills UK who work on behalf of employers to ensure the UK has the technology skills it needs to succeed in a global digital economy. In 2006 UWE was selected from just a handful of universities across the UK to run the course here in the South West of England.
From the very beginning our relationship with eskills has been excellent. It has led to the development of new initiatives and has allowed UWE resources to be used across the entire ITMB network of universities. For instance, all 'guru' lectures are recorded by UWE and stored on our IT systems, allowing students from any ITMB course across the UK to access and view. UWE was selected as the repository for the lectures due to the fact that our ITMB degree sits within the Department of Computer Science and Creative Technologies, giving immediate access to the expert technical resources needed.
Representatives from UWE sit on appropriate e-skills academic and employer boards. The networking opportunities provided by such boards, particularly with employers, have been very beneficial for students. Many employers are keen to consider UWE ITMB students for work placements, providing mentoring and counselling both throughout the degree as well as with careers advice, and will offer the opportunity for interview after graduation.
