How to get to St Matthias Campus

St Matthias Campus building

St Matthias Campus is located in the heart of bustling Fishponds, a busy student community just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre.

By road

From M4

Exit at junction 19 to the M32. Follow signs for the ring road, Filton A4174, and exit at junction 1 of the M32. Turn left following signs for ring road, Kingswood, Frenchay A4174: move into the right hand lane and then turn right at the first set of traffic lights towards Frenchay Hospital B4058. Pass Frenchay Hospital on your left, go straight over the mini roundabout, past a Texaco garage on your right, and straight on at the traffic lights.

At the next mini roundabout, turn left into Broom Hill, which becomes Blackberry Hill. Follow signs for Blackberry Hill Hospital, UWE Glenside and St Matthias. (The Glenside Campus is almost at the top of the hill.) Continue past Glenside and turn left into College Road. The St Matthias Campus rear entrance is at the far end of the road on the right. Additional visitor car parking is available behind Conifers, off Oldbury Court Road.

From M5

Exit at junction 15 and join the M4 eastbound towards London. Exit the M4 at junction 19 onto the M32, and follow the directions above.

From the south

from Bristol City Centre follow the signs for the M32. Exit the M32 at junction 2 by IKEA and Tesco. At the roundabout, take the second exit towards Stapleton and Frenchay B4058. The B4058 is a small residential road just to the left of the M32 slip road. Continue straight across a set of traffic lights which are under the motorway.

Follow the road, passing Stapleton church on the right and a Murco garage on your left, to a mini roundabout. At the mini roundabout turn right into Broom Hill, which becomes Blackberry Hill. Follow signs for Blackberry Hill Hospital, UWE Glenside and St Matthias. (The Glenside Campus is almost at the top of the hill.) Continue past Glenside and turn left into College Road. The St Matthias Campus rear entrance is at the far end of the road on the right. Additional visitor car parking is available behind Conifers, off Oldbury Court Road.

Car parking

Car parking is by permit only. Visitors should report to Reception for a parking permit. Please note that a permit does not guarantee a parking place.

Please note: Parking permits are not required on UWE Open Days.

By bus

UWE buses - Wessex Red buses link all campuses with the city centre and can be used by students, staff and the travelling public. The U1 service links Bower Ashton to Frenchay Campus and the city centre.

By bike

The Bristol to Bath Railway Path, a traffic-free cycle route, is located just 300m from St Matthias campus and runs to Bristol city centre.

By rail

From Bristol Parkway catch the 581 bus (Longwell Green): get off at College Road.

From Temple Meads take the U1 to Bond Street South or walk to Old Market (about 15 minutes). Cross over the roundabout to Old Market and take the U3 to St Matthias.
