Research themes

BRILLE conducts theoretical through to applied research revolving around three distinctive yet complementary research themes. Each of these themes is led by a Professor or Associate Professor. Major current funding sources include two European Framework 7 Integrating Projects, AHRC  and the Leverhulme Trust.

Designing for Digital Learners (D4DL)

Investigating the application of Technology Enhanced Learning to mediate, augment, support and transform learning.

Researching Children and Young People

Focussing on the lived experiences of children and young people and analyses different policy and social contexts which impact on their lives.

Post-compulsory education, social justice and the student experience

Continuing and building on BRILLE’s existing relationships and projects, working in areas of further, higher and work-based education. It also investigates issues of education and social justice and the experience of students across all phases and sites of education.
