Authors: Lynn Raphael Reed, Chris Croudace, Neil Harrison, Arthur Baxter, Kathryn Last

Date of publication: March 2007

The research project 'Young Participation in Higher Education: a sociocultural study of educational engagement in Bristol South parliamentary constituency' was funded by the The Higher Education Funding Council for England and undertaken by a research team at the University of the West of England. It provides illuminating evidence of the context-specific processes that lead to very low rates of young participation in higher education in parts of the City of Bristol, and offers an evaluative framework for considering the potential of interventions to make a difference. The study is of relevance to other areas with low rates of young participation in higher education.
