Donna began her new role in FBL on Thursday, 29 October 2015 having been Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business and Society at the University of South Wales since August 2012. Donna brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles. As Executive Dean, Donna will have overall responsibility for the organisational leadership and management of the Faculty which has nearly 250 staff and over 6000 students.

Donna is passionate about creating an excellent student experience and has led initiatives in this area including the use of lecture capture software, the launch of a Legal and Financial Advice Clinic and has worked collaboratively with colleagues at the University of South Wales to improve National Student Survey results. Donna says, "I am really excited about working with my new colleagues to deliver the objectives set out in the 2020 plan. FBL has some excellent practice already taking place and I'm looking forward to helping to build that further. The new build for the Faculty will be wonderful and should really enhance the student learning experience."

As Associate Dean, Learning, Teaching and Student Experience, Fiona is responsible for strategic oversight of the development and operation of the Faculty’s portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and the quality of the student experience on the courses. She chairs the Faculty Quality committees and executive working groups relating to learning and teaching and employability. Fiona also represents the Faculty on a number of university groups particularly those concerned with academic governance and with learning, teaching and the student experience.

As Associate Dean, Research and Innovation, Nicholas has oversight of the development and implementation of the Faculty-wide research strategy in alignment with the University's research strategy. He has responsibility for postgraduate research and for developing networks to maximise opportunities for enterprise and innovation through public and civic engagement and knowledge transfer and exchange. He chairs the Faculty's Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee and represents the Faculty on the University's Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee. He is Professor of Strategy/Enterprise and Innovation and his research interests include strategic management and business competitiveness. He was elected an academician of the Academy of Social Sciences in 2011.

As Associate Dean (External Engagement) for the Faculty of Business and Law, Fiona is responsible for providing overall leadership and strategic direction in creating mutually beneficial and commercially sustainable international, national, regional and local partnerships. In her role Fiona works with stakeholders across the university, and with a wide variety of external organisations, to promote innovative partnership working and collaborate on new initiatives in line with faculty and university strategies. Fiona has worked collaboratively on a number of transnational research projects and publications in the subject fields of Leisure, Events and Tourism Management. She is currently working with the Glastonbury Festival team investigating how to improve the sustainability of events and festivals.

The Faculty Business Manager is responsible for coordinating and integrating the delivery of professional services in support of Faculty business requirements and objectives including setting and managing service delivery standards and is also responsible for leading Faculty administration and managing projects on behalf of the Faculty.

Patricia's role as Acting Head of Department for Business and Management carries with it a broad sweep of responsibilities which can be summarised as departmental management in three primary activity areas, teaching, learning and assessment, research, business engagement and professional development and staff and resource management.  This means Patricia is responsible for ensuring the modules and programmes offered by the department are up to the mark in terms of market attractiveness and quality standards (including external quality benchmark compliance). She oversees and promotes a vibrant staff community of research, scholarly investigation and external engagement. She endeavours to maintain and manage departmental resources, such that they are effectively and efficiently utilised. This final item includes the line management of all accounting, economics and finance academic staff.

Steve, as Head of Law, is responsible for the management of the Faculty's undergraduate, postgraduate and professional law courses which include the undergraduate LLB offering, the Legal Practice Course for intending solicitors and the Bar Professional Training Course for intending barristers. In addition, Law offers academic and professional LLM programmes, the conversion Graduate Diploma in Law course (CPE) as well as numerous training and CPD courses for the legal profession (including the Professional Skills Course for trainee solicitors). Law engages fully with many external and collaborative activities (including the award–winning pro bono service and the placements scheme for LPC students in conjunction with Bristol Law Society).

Deputy Dean, Faculty of Business and Law

The Deputy Dean will be responsible for the strategic overview of the Faculty’s business, finance and HR resource and planning functions (including international, external partnerships and CPD activities), and will deputise for the Executive Dean when required.
