Pro Bono opportunities for postgraduate students

Law students in a courtroom

If you spend your undergraduate years at UWE you may well build up a pro bono portfolio that you can add to whilst undertaking your professional course.

Equally if you only spend a year with us for your LPC or BPTC there are opportunities to get involved. There are opportunities for LLM students to get involved with both Undergraduate and Professional Pro Bono.

Community Action

This scheme is mainly for LPC students giving advice to charities and community bodies on company and property subjects. To date, our students have helped local residents take over the running of their local swimming pool when it was threatened with closure, helped local parish council accept gifts of land for community purposes, and helped residents on a private road to get it repaired.

UWE Bristol Law Court Clinic

The Law Court Clinic (formerly known as CLARS) is a unique law assistance clinic that operates at the Civil Justice Centre (CJC) in Bristol. The Clinic is operated by students undertaking professional vocational law courses at UWE Bristol. They are supervised by qualified and experienced lawyers.

The Law Court Clinic is also developing a ‘virtual law clinic’ presence where podcasts and other explanatory information is prepared and produced by students and made available online to help people in need of legal assistance.
