International Alumni Networks set up in Asia and Africa

We’re happy to announce that UWE Bristol alumni associations now come closer to home for alumni living in Malaysia, Nigeria and Hong Kong. International Alumni Networks have been set up to allow alumni to connect with fellow alumni easily; they will organise events relevant to the alumni in their countries.

November 2014 saw the launch of the UWE Alumni Malaysia society. Members met with Professor Steve West, UWE Bristol Vice-Chancellor, in Kuala Lumpur. Oliver Chu, the new society's President is 'proud to be part of our Alma Mater, UWE Bristol' and looks forward to his new role preserving and maintaining the goodwill and relations among graduates in the UK and Malaysia.

The inauguration of the Nigeria Alumni network coincided with the opening of the new regional office in Lagos on 25 March 2015. A group of eight alumni attended what is to be the first networking meeting. Professor Emmanuel Adukwa and Jimi Ogunnusi, Regional Director – Africa and Associate Lecturer (FBL) were in attendance too.

An informal dinner with Mian Ng, Associate Head of Department in the Creative Industries, in Hong Kong a little over a month ago resulted in seven alumni coming forward to take charge of setting up an international alumni network for Hong Kong.

We wish the steering teams all the best and look forward to hearing about their projects!
