Transforming lives

A big thank you for donating to the UWE Bristol Fund – your support helps us to transform lives.

How your support has helped

Below are just some examples of where donations from our supporters are making a difference to communities and students. View our donor roll to see who has been supporting UWE Bristol with a gift.

Raising cultural awareness

Project Zulu brings schoolchildren from Sithobelumthetho Primary School in South Africa to the UK for traditional dance performances, increasing cultural awareness amongst children in the UK whilst raising money for much-needed solar panels for the school.

Supporting students in financial hardship

"My studies were delayed due to personal responsibilities (caring for my elderly mother) and health problems. Without my bursary I wouldn't have been able to complete my MA. I really hope you can keep fundraising for hardship bursaries as it really helps students who need it the most."
Anita Hummel, MA in Human Rights

Recognising student talent

Scholarships and prizes mean we can continue to foster talent. Richard Broker, studying Computer Science Integration, was awarded the Tony Papadopoullos Scholarship for computing students. This scholarship recognises students who show a high level of innovation, ambition and practicality during their first year of study.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to have recieved the scholarship and I'm extremely grateful to the trust for awarding it to me. The scholarship will relieve the financial worries that come with studying at university and will allow me to fully concentrate on my studies."
Richard Broker, Computer Science Integration student

Enhancing the student experience

We have funded a range of projects which enrich the student journey at the University – from helping our Gliding Club with a grant which meant more students could experience gliding at an affordable price to helping more students attend a rowing camp for our Women's Rowing Squad.

Supporting research for the real world

Your donations are helping to fund research projects to tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues. Funds are currently being used to further investigate the use of urine in the production of electricity and the purification of water, resulting in much safer sanitation for the developing world.
