Working with employers
Our teaching staff and careers teams have connections with employers, professional bodies and specialists across industry, practice and the professions.
We work with these and employer partners to make sure that our students get all the work opportunities, advice and inspiration they need.
Employers make sure that our courses meet industry requirements. They provide briefs, projects and work experience opportunities. And they get involved through presentations, mentoring and more. So our students develop contacts and industry insight as well as the right combination of knowledge and skills.
With plans to boost our employer networks and professional focus over the coming years, we will be able to offer even more work opportunities with a diverse group of employers.
Opportunities to get experience
More than 8,000 work placements are undertaken every year. And 6,851 organisations and employers advertised vacancies on UWE Bristol's InfoHub in 2014/15. Thanks to our links with employers and the community, there are plenty of opportunities for students to find:
- work placements
- work experience
- graduate schemes.
Employer involvement from day one
For some courses in subject areas including construction, computing and engineering, students have the opportunity to meet our employer partners from the start. This is through initiatives including:
- work experience
- careers support.
Inspiration from industry leaders
Thanks to our networks, we arrange for students to learn from, and be inspired by, top professional achievers.
- Our Distinguished Address Series regularly welcomes leaders of industry from globally renowned organisations.
- Each department arranges for top employers and professionals to provide industry insight and advice at presentations, Q&As, workshops and events.
Connecting with employers
Our Graduate fair is the largest in the South West with over 500 employers from a range of sectors. This is the perfect opportunity for students to make connections and get advice on internships, graduate schemes and work.
We also arrange industry-specific fairs so students can network and connect with employers in their chosen sector.
