From the moment our students start, they get careers information and advice - from employers, our careers and enterprise team, and their tutors. So by the time they graduate, they will be equipped with the experience, contacts and skills to succeed in their chosen careers.
Graduate career opportunities
UWE Bristol Law School graduates take up a wide range of professional and managerial positions which extends further than the traditional pathway of solicitor or barrister.
Some go directly into legal roles including:
- Pupil Barrister
- Corporate Governance Consultant
- Financial Crime Analyst
- Trainee Solicitor
- Legal Affairs Manager
- Legal Adviser
- Judicial Assistant
Others branch out into graduate jobs in areas including business management; insurance; finance; recruitment and teaching.
Over a third (35%*) take up further study – at UWE Bristol and farther afield. These include the specialist legal courses below (with some students choose non legal postgraduate courses such as PGCE):
- Solicitors - Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice
- Barristers - Postgraduate Diploma Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC)

Placements and work experience
Work experience is vital in today's crowded jobs market. And while our students are here, we provide one-to-one support to help them find experience that fits their career plans.
- As well as help finding work experience, we prepare students for the graduate market recruitment processes through the provision of employability workshops and embedded enterprise education.
- Students can get valuable legal experience volunteering at our award-winning Pro Bono unit.
Specialist careers support
UWE Bristol Law School students benefit from sector specific careers advice.
Students can come along to daily careers drop-ins and workshops or schedule a one-to-one coaching appointment with our dedicated careers and enterprise team. Students have access to online resources including the UWE InfoHub vacancy search engine and careers toolkit supporting students to find jobs and providing help with recruitment processes. Meet the Employer Fair, Employer-led workshops and industry insight and networking events occur throughout the academic calendar giving students the opportunity to engage with employers and entrepreneurs directly.
We also arrange specialist law workshops and events including our own Law Fair with regional focus, CV Clinics and events with external organisations like Aspiring Solicitors.
And it doesn't end when our students graduate. Our alumni can access our careers services for three years after graduation.
