98% Education graduates in work or further study after 6 months

From the moment our students start, they get careers information and advice - from employers, our careers team, and their tutors. So by the time they graduate, they will be equipped with the experience, contacts and skills to succeed in their chosen careers.

Graduate career opportunities

Many of our Primary and Early Years Education (ITE) graduates begin their teaching careers in Bristol, the region and further afield.

Non-ITE graduates go into careers and further study in education, social care and community roles. Careers are varied and stimulating with typical graduate roles including:

  • Nursery Manager
  • Early Years Practitioner
  • Transition Co-ordinator
  • Family Support Worker
  • Museum Education Officer.

Top graduate employers

We have partnerships with education providers across the South West. Partner employers shape our courses, give careers advice, and provide work experience and placements for students.

Industry-ready graduates

Work experience is vital, and students are prepared for work by placements throughout their course. This helps them decide where they want to work. And, if they already know, our careers service helps find placements that fit the brief.

Our volunteering team also helps students improve their skills and experience through opportunities such as:

  • Working with disadvantaged children
  • Computer skills classes for over 60s
  • Art classes for adults with learning disabilities
  • Drama classes for children.

Specialist careers support

Sector-specific careers advice is available for each department and one-to-ones are available with our dedicated team. There are weekly drop-ins on education careers. Students can attend workshops on LinkedIn, CV writing, interview techniques etc.

And it doesn't end when they graduate; all UWE Bristol alumni can access our careers services up until three years after graduation.

Further study

Many of our non-ITE Education graduates choose to go onto further study. At UWE Bristol, they can do postgraduate study or professional vocational training such as:

Many of our ITE graduates continue to study with us, working towards the MA Education as part of their NQT year and beyond.
