Glenside Campus developments

Glenside Campus is home to UWE Bristol's Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences. The redevelopment of the campus is ongoing and has been based on feedback from its staff and students.

The Hub

A new vibrant collaborative space for staff, students and visitors in the heart of Glenside Campus has opened, replacing the former Traders canteen. The Hub at Glenside is a contemporary and welcoming environment including touch-down work spaces and comfortable seating with power and USB ports, a food outlet serving hot meals, and a new café shop called the Coffee Pod.

The Coffee Pod serves Bristol Twenty's coffee and tea, a local company based in Avonmouth. Having a local provider in the new space was in response to staff and student feedback.

Transformation of Glenside Laundry

The former Grade II listed laundry building on Glenside Campus is set to be transformed into vibrant clinical skills and practical learning spaces. The £4.9million transformation of what was the NHS laundry site will create a modern facility that retains its heritage features.

The development will have a significant impact on the future provision of additional flexible space and construction is expected to start in December 2017 and completed by October 2018.

The new development will provide learning and teaching facilities for trainee paramedics and occupational therapy students in the shape of rehabilitation equipment.

It will also provide learning spaces for a new BSc(Hons) Optometry programme, creating future healthcare professionals specialising in eye care, working with opticians Specsavers amongst others, and extra space to recruit additional students onto a number of other existing health and social care programmes.

UWE Bristol has appointed architects AHR to carry out the design works.
