Class descriptions

There are so many class options available from high or medium intensity sessions such as circuit training to chill out 'mind and body' sessions. All classes are led by highly qualified instructors.

Ab Attack

Ab Attack classes or abdominal conditioning classes can be a great addition to your regular fitness regime. Ab classes focus exclusively on the abdominal region of the body and thereby work towards giving you that six pack you’ve been longing for!

Body Blitz

Body Blitz is a barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, great instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast!

Body by Design

Designed to change the shape of your body. Combines high repetition training with aerobic conditioning; ideal for both men & women. Not to be missed!

Body Conditioning

This weights-based class builds strength and tones your body.

Body Sculpt

Body Sculpt is a dynamic workout, designed to improve your core strength, tone and shape whilst burning calories. Body sculpting classes are a mix of cardiovascular routines combined with a body sculpting workout using light weights and/or lightweight bands.

Cardiac Rehab Phase 4 (referral only)

A 12-week rehab programme guiding patients through changes to their exercise routine to enhance their lifestyle and help prevent further cardiac episodes.

Circuits

This workout is great for beginners and advanced members, where all fitness levels can work together and have a bit of fun at the same time. Cardiovascular and resistance stations give the ultimate all over workout.

Fitness on Demand

Choose your own workout class with our brand new Fitness on Demand service. Providing fun and motivating fitness classes at the touch of a button, why not grab some friends and try it today!

Simply check the Fitness on Demand slots available on our online timetable and then confirm with a member of the gym staff when you arrive at the Centre for Sport.

You will be required to sign in with a member of the gym staff before starting your Fitness on Demand session in the studio and there must be a minimum of two members per session. You then select which fitness class you want to complete on the screen where it will then be projected onto the wall for you to follow.

Fitness on Demand rules:

  • You must inform a member of gym staff prior to using the studio
  • The member of Gym staff must sign you in (Red Fitness on Demand Folder) prior to using the studio for these sessions
  • A minimum of 2 members will be required for a Fitness on Demand session to take place
  • Unless it is a Pilates of stretching class shoes must be worn at all times
  • Appropriate gym clothing to be worn
  • No more than 10 members to use Fitness on Demand at one time.

Hatha Yoga

The hatha yoga class aims to extend the strength and movement range of our bodies. In each class we will practice a selection of poses in connection with breathing techniques, and end with a yogic relaxation. The class is suitable for all ages and abilities, no previous yoga experience is required. Adaptations and modifications of poses will be suggested by the tutor according to each student’s level.

HIIT

Increase cardiovascular fitness with high intensity exercise and limited rest periods.

Insanity Blast Class

These classes have been created to involve high intensity training to get you summer body ready!

NEW: Kick Boxercise

A fun, fast-paced fitness class incorporating basic boxing and kick boxing moves with body weight exercises. Great for all abilities.

Ladies Free Weights

Use compound exercises to develop and improve your free weight workout.

Legs, Bums and Tums (LBT)

A traditional class working those harder to tone areas using resistance and cardiovascular moves.

Pilates

Pilates exercises core muscles such as the abdominals and the lower back, and aims to improve posture and tone using stretching, lengthening and strengthening exercises.

NEW: Pre/Postnatal Class

Designed to strengthen, tone and work your whole body, this gentle workout is suitable for women in all stages of pregnancy and new mums.

Progression Circuits (referral only)

This is a GP referral and progressional class for those who have completed the 12-week rehab programme.

PT Blast

Join the resident PT's as they look to kick start your weekend! Through their knowledge and motivation this class will combine different training styles including HIIT, circuit training, strength and conditioning and core based workouts to give you a full body session leaving you suitably tired but inspired.

Spin

Spinning is more than just a workout, it’s a programme that develops a sense of community, shared purpose and lasting lifestyle changes that keeps you coming back for more! A calorie burning, energising, fun workout - why not give it a spin?

Spin and Ab Blast

Spin and then Abs. The Abs focuses on the abdominal area (and back) helping you to achieve good core strength and that all important ‘six pack’. This is a challenging workout, which is guaranteed to hit those difficult areas.

Synrgy Rig Workouts

Short, intense CrossFit style circuit class for an extra boost in the gym.
