Research and partnerships
From the built environment and active travel, to environmental management, and sustainable business, behaviour change, green technologies, sustainable food and product design, UWE Bristol is contributing to a sustainable and healthy future through applied research and collaborations with organisations and communities.
Research and knowledge exchange
UWE Bristol’s research and knowledge exchange activities support the goal of sustainable development and address many of the urgent challenges associated with this agenda.

Bristol Green Capital
The University has made a significant commitment over the years to the Bristol Green Capital partnership, which is the city’s key sustainability group. We played a key part in taking forward Bristol’s successful bid to be named European Green Capital 2015, at a time when UWE Bristol Professor Martin Bigg was also the group’s chair.
We were a strategic partner and strong supporter during the European Green Capital year, and ran numerous events and activities on and off campus. Find out more about our involvement in Bristol Green Capital.
Most recently, we have been involved in the development of the partnership into a Community Interest Company. Professor James Longhurst, Assistant Vice-Chancellor, was interim chair of this new group until autumn 2016.
